Food Day Canada 2025: Proudly Local. Passionately Canadian.
At Meat & Poultry Ontario, we know that good food starts with hard work, dedication, and pride — from the farm to the cutting floor, the kitchen, and every table across the province. That’s why we’re proud to join the national celebration of Food Day Canada, honouring the people who grow, raise, craft, and cook Canadian food every day. This isn’t just a celebration. It’s a reminder of why we do what we do—and who we do it for. August 2: A Nation-Wide Celebration of Canadian Food On Food Day Canada, Canadians are encouraged to shop local, cook with Canadian ingredients, and dine together in celebration of our food systems and those who sustain them. From local butchers and processors to chefs and home cooks, it’s a chance to recognize the strength and diversity of our industry. This movement started as the World’s Longest Barbecue, created by the late Anita Stewart to support Canada’s beef farmers during a time of crisis. Today, it’s a vibrant national tradition that reflects the same values we hold dear at MPO--community, resilience, and trust in Canadian-made food. July 29: Elora’s Longest BBQ – A Table for All Leading into Food Day Canada, our friends in Elora are setting the stage for something truly unforgettable. On Tuesday, July 29, the Elora Mill and Food Day Canada team will build the longest communal table the town has ever seen, stretching across the Grand River. Elora’s Longest BBQ isn’t just about the food—it’s about coming together as a community to share stories, honour our roots, and look forward to the future of Canadian cuisine. It’s the official launch of Food Day Canada 2025—and a powerful symbol of how food connects us all. At Meat & Poultry Ontario, we believe in building a future where Ontario’s meat and poultry businesses thrive, innovate, and are celebrated for their essential role in Canadian life. This summer, we invite you to be part of something bigger. Support local. Celebrate proudly. Choose Canadian food first.
