Meat & Poultry Ontario Welcomes Board of Directors following Annual General Meeting in Guelph

Kevin Schinkel, President of Meat & Poultry Ontario officially kicked off our 43rd held April 19 in Guelph. Kevin is the owner and operator of Schinkel’s Legacy, a family-owned meat processing plant in Chatham Ontario. Kevin is known for his innovative approach to meat processing and his commitment to sustainability. He is always looking for ways to improve his operation, whether that means adopting new technologies or developing new products to meet changing consumer demands.

“I am honoured to serve as President of Meat & Poultry Ontario and am committed to advancing our organization and industry through collaboration, innovation and sustainability.” say Kevin.

Rafal Rusiniak from Handtmann Canada, Waterloo joins the Board as a newly elected Board Member.

“I am honored to able to contribute to the MPO board of directors.  The organization has always provided great value to Handtmann Canada and I am excited to be able to give back.  We support many associations, but the MPO is particularly distinguished because they provide such great content, events, and resources to the industry.”

The following individuals have renewed their terms on the Board of Directors: Doris Valade of Malabar Group Inc., Campbellville; Jeff Miedema of Townsend Butchers Inc., Simcoe; Dale Schefter of Schefter Poultry Processing, Gorrie, Doug Alexander of Leadbetter Foods Inc., Orillia.

They join existing Directors : Peter Baarda of J&G Quality Meats, Burlington; Gerhard Metzger of Metzger Meats, Hensall,  Yaser Alqayem of Parkhill Meats, Parkhill; Christine Bonneau-O’Neill of L’Original Packing, L’Original; and Shannon Desborough from Finest Sausage & Meats, Kitchener

Franco Naccarato, MPO’s executive director, expressed his gratitude for having such expertise at the Board table with representation from abattoirs, processors, retailers, and wholesalers of varying sizes and from all parts of the province. He said, “This helps ensure decisions are made with all perspectives considered on behalf of our membership.”
